Small to tall to fat to thin. Gotta keep pushing the shape around.
The variations are endless. Putting some of them together in the one piece can make it look interesting. Too much and it can get too complicated. I try to keep it as simple as it needs to be and as readable as it should be. That's the coolest thing about sketches or thumbnails. You can quickly search for the shapes that will play off each other and you can experiment a lot in a short amount of time with no commitment. It's like exercising your drawing muscles.

Are you using watercolour pencils? These look similar to the effect I get with them. Do a quick little sketch and then go back with a wet brush.
It creates a nice look.

yep, watercolour pencils and a water brush. I only put them together a couple of months ago.
