Early Summer

Wow, locally it's getting hot already. Stay cool if you live around here. Nice nighttimes though.

So there's some changes going on around here. Last week there were a few glitches as I switched over this blog to my own domain name. All the links should be redirected, but just in case you want to update your bookmarks, the new url is www.thedalyblog.com.

Also I'm really happy to say that my new cards are now available at the great
Lula Mae (voted Best Boutique in Pasadena), located in the heart of Pasadena at 100 North Fair Oaks Avenue. It's one fab store to browse around for gifts, cards and all kinds of accessories. Ask for the Scullery Press cards if you drop in. Look for my new logo which you can find in my profile picture. Yeah, I know, I don't look anything like that. Well, that's the new logo for Scullery Press. Let the branding begin.

Best thing about the cards is that they're like prints, but smaller, so check them out if you're in the Pasadena area.

Production Time

Here's one from a short while ago. You really can't beat Venice Beach. Summer's getting ready. Time to chill with the roller skaters.

So one of the reasons things have been slow here is because I'm spending time producing physical work these days. Why? 'Cos I like getting things off the computer and into the physical world. Especially if it's printed on really high quality paper. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
As well as that, there are some real pieces in the works too. Time is not on my side.

Here's a taste below. Scullery Press is where I'll be making all my printable work available. Here's a pic to give you an idea of what's going on.....

Eye Candy From Strangers

Heads up!!!! Get them HERE before they are all gone. I believe these are flying off the shelves of Brand Studio Press. Be sure to get yours early in the Comic Con season or even better, secure your copies before they disappear.

Alberto has done it yet again with his wonderful books and this time he has brought together a large section of talent who love to draw ladies for the first two books and more books are planned. I'm honored to have one of my most minimal images in the second volume. It was a happy day when I got them in the mailbox.

Studies

Yup, still here. Thanks for still swinging by!
Putting the new book together is fun, but it's stopping me from posting here like I used to. The good news is that it's in the home stretch and I'm prepping it for print right now. Got some time today to go to a gesture class at lunch. Here's a quick sample. That's Melissa above.

Now in case you missed them, I don't usually put up videos here, but if you haven't seen them already, check out these two great videos that are doing the rounds......

Ghost

I should be getting back to regular posting real soon. Enjoy this spirit for now.

Also, from Pascal, move fab animation from him. THIS SHORT makes me smile so much.

And from Elliot, I know this is way late, but his DOWNBEAT panels are just the best. Go bug him to keep making these purely for the selfish reason of me wanting to see a book from him.

New Year

Brand new year. Time to start posting again. Thanks for checking in. How come I've been away? Well, I've been quietly putting a new book together, and instead of posting the images here, you'll just have to wait to see them in printed form. I wanted to put a book together of mostly unseen work. Hopefully it will be worth the wait. I'll be playing catch up, so here's one from not so long ago.

Project X

Right, I've just started to work on something really cool which hopefully I'll release next year. Yeah, I know, just when I thought I was going to go down one track for my next book, something clicked and I'm taking a different route. For the moment, I'll call it project X, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Less posts I'm afraid so I can spend more time on it but I'll keep you updated as it gets developed.
Just at the concept stage, so lots of exploration and decisions to be made.

Art You Didn't Expect

Ah yeah, a different type of image than you would usually expect to find here. Welcome to all if you came over from the BlogRush wiget. Click the bottom tab of the widget to see what it's all about if you missed the previous post. I've found a whole bunch of art sites I would never have come accross if I hadn't seen them on the side bar. Happy surfing.

CRUSH dropped off at the locals

CRUSH is now available in more stores. Just in time for comic wednesday, the newest addition to take copies is the "Comics Factory" located at 1298 East Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, Ca 91106. It doesn't have a web site, but it's a great book store. The other favourite stores are below todays image. All of them have signed copies.

Also, before todays image, check out the new BlogRush widget with art related sites. It seems to be the buzz of the internet right now. It's free, and it has the potential to share your artwork
with a huge amount of people. Worth taking a look at. Hit the tab at the bottom of the widget to see what it's all about and check out their demo video. Cool stuff. Cheers Bobby for the tip.

Now, this girl will be in the new book. I'll do sneak peeks as time goes on. Here you go for today.....

Wish I could show you the stuff I'm doing, but I'm holding off so I'll have brand new work to show for the next book. The next one will have mostly unpublished and unseen work. But here's a pic to keep things posting.....

SCULLERY PRESS

I'm back. Thanks for stopping by while I was gone. Now for something that I've been waiting to post for the longest time. I've had such a good time putting my book together and enjoyed the process so much that I have set up my own imprint SCULLERY PRESS. I've been really excited about this venture and can't wait to get to book number two. Now you can get the first offering "CRUSH" from SCULLERY PRESS HERE. All my printed work will now be available through the new website. Hope you enjoy the book.

OK

Wow, too many things going on, too little time. Another month and everything will be back to normal. So now that the Comic Con is over, where can you get a copy of 'CRUSH"?
It will be available here mid September.

Until then, it will be available online at the fantastic
STUART NG BOOKS.
It’s so new it might not be listed yet, but you can contact them and ask for http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifit.http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif

If you're local to L.A. you can pick up a copy at the well known and often frequented 'cos it's so good
HOUSE OF SECRETS at 1930 W. Olive Avenue, in Burbank.

Also available from the very cool and famed
NUCLEUS GALLERY at 30 West Main Street
Alhambra, California. They will also have it available online soon.

I'll add more places as time goes on.

Now to keep things moving, back to drawing.......

Comic Con Come and Gone

Wow, I had such a great time. Thank you so much to everyone who dropped by and said hi, picked up a book or grabbed a print. I love you all.

I'm not even sure where to start. I was surrounded by the best of the best and enjoyed hanging out and meeting so many fellow artists that I have met through the blog. What a great time. Can't wait to do it again. I'm knackered now, and it's taken longer than I thought to recover.

My thanks go to all who made the con a great experience for me. First, my boothmates made the event fly by. Jeremy, Morgan, Scott, Gabriele and Jakob. A fine bunch of lads I'm honoured to work with every day. Some of the incredible artists I met and now have the great pleasure in hanging out with were Bobby Chiu and Kei Acedera, Stephen Silver, Robin Mitchell, Deanna Marsigliese, Patrick Morgan, Josh and Justin Parpen, Pascal Campion, John Neverez, Kevin Dart, Chris Turnham, Elizabeth Ito, Kristen Lester, Griselda Sastrawinata, Louie del Carmen, Alberto Ruiz, and Justin Ridge. My God what a list of talent. Thanks for making me feel at home. Also Stuart Ng, the nicest book seller I've ever met, made me feel more than welcome and was pleased to see my books selling well off his shelves.

It doesn't end there though. I dropped by and met Dean Yeagle, Octavio Rodriguez, Richard Pose, Mike Roush, Daniel Cooney, Matt Stewart, Francisco Herrera, Kelsey Mann, Billy and Catherine Martinez, Erwin Haya, Scott Morse, Bill Presing, Don Shank, Jeff Pidgeon, Ted Mathot, and I finally met Daniel Davis and his lovely wife Dawna.

Now there were so many I didn't get to meet but hopefully I'll fix that in the future. No wonder the time flew by. Cheers everyone. I had a fantastic and inspiring time.
